For a person who complains a lot about the proper pronunciation of words, I guess I better issue a caveat -- I follow my own rules when it comes to punctuation and grammar.
I use dots and dashes like a cook uses salt and pepper. I have no idea if I'm even using them correctly ------------ and I don't even care. I put those in there for effect . . . . . . . . . so what I write sounds like how I would say it.
Hence, big fonts for yelling, lots of ?????? marks when I want to make a passionate point -- and dashes . . . . and dots.
I'm out of control, I know.
I apologize to all the English majors out there.
3 stopped by to say hello.:
I say if you can't do it the way you want to, then what's the point?
This made me laugh because I do the same thing. I also think about it every single time, knowing that it isn't really proper! I also like to use parenthesis to explain something. That would not have gone over so well in our English classes!
When are you coming for Spark? I am so so sad that I can't go this year. I hope that I will be able to go again someday. I just know that this year is going to be spectacular and so different. Enjoy it for me!
punctuation...schmunctuation!!!
I love the dashes and dots. It does add emphasis...and give a little pause...in all the right places.
Maybe there should be a new textbook "Punctuation for Bloggers".
